Oregon Couple Finds Unique Use for Boss Gloves

Six years ago, Perla and Bill Pearce packed up their life in Tucson, Arizona, and moved north to Bend, Oregon. Even though they were leaving the southwest behind, they weren’t ready to leave the flavor of it. So, they went ahead and brought with them their gourmet salsa company.

With its close proximity to the border, Arizona isn’t short on Mexican-style cuisine or salsa—but moving to Bend came with some new challenges and opportunities. For starters, an untapped market and a new client base that may not understand that salsa isn’t just for tacos and burritos.

“Salsa is a condiment that goes with just about everything,” explains Perla. “From our morning eggs to sandwiches, wraps, salads, on burgers and steaks.”

Currently, Bill and Perla have nine flavors ranging from the mild Fire Roasted Mango for the fruit enthusiast, to the Hot Holy Moly for those “local pepper heads.” One of the challenges for Perla and Bill was finding a glove to use during the manufacturing process. That’s where the Boss® DYNEE white™ came in.

“These gloves are the best we could find and we will continue to use them as long as we are in business. Not only are they comfortable, but they’re also cut resistant to protect our hands while slicing tomatoes and peppers, and their heat resistance and grip helps when placing lids on the hot glass jars (about 190˚) during processing.”

Along with their families —and of course their employees—Kelly Supply has grown to what it is today. Looking towards the future, the company plans to maintain these ongoing relationships while establishing new ones along the way.

“We are happy to be growing our 15 year partnership in each of their 12 locations throughout the Midwest with a full line of Boss Safety Products. Thanks again to Kelly Supply for allowing us to participate, we appreciate your business!”

FLOTUS Plants Last Garden in Boss Gloves

On Tuesday, for the eighth year in a row, Michelle Obama planted the White House Kitchen Garden on the South Lawn. The annual tradition started in 2009, which helped launch a conversation about healthy eating and ultimately the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative.

In 2011, Mrs. Obama began another trend– wearing Boss garden gloves! After President Obama gifted the First Lady a pair of green Boss® Dirt Diggers™, they quickly became her garden glove of choice. The First Lady also went on to write about the gloves in her book American Grown describing the green color as a cheery reminder of spring.

Boss® Lends a Hand in OSHA Training

In October, Stinger Certified Safety of Oklahoma City held an OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety Training for construction workers, foremen, project managers, job site superintendents, and anyone else in the construction industry. This one-day, 10-hour course teaches workers general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site and is required by some states and/or employers.

During the class, Boss products were used to help demonstrate proper safety and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the construction industry.
Boss would like to thank Rene Soto, owner at Stinger Certified Safety, for featuring our 1JM770 and also for introducing Boss Gloves to all 300 students.
